Couple body language

What is it that causes celebrities to put on dark glasses and put their heads down when the photographers turn up. A recent set of photos of a male celebrity shows his companion to always have her head down and eyes looking at the ground. They are supposed to be in a relationship yet the woman, in many photos, looks angry, unhappy or frightened. She holds onto him for dear life. Maybe I am making more out of it than I should as I don't know the circumstances yet I feel that it looks more like a controlling effect of the male.
